Most of my previous work experiences have been customer focused and working with the public which I enjoyed. Throughout my life I have always found that many people came to me to seek support or advice and found that I was a good listener and they felt happy to share with me. When I chose to train as a midwife, I learnt the importance of holistic care and looking at the full person which now makes sense because psychological effects the physical and vice versa. The main things that I loved as a midwife was empowering women and promoting autonomy and watching the growth personal challenges and also watched that of others. I have personally had counselling on several occasions, some I did not connect with but some I did and this was life which is something I found extremely rewarding. Throughout my life I have faced many challenges and changes for me. When I chose to find another career, I reflected upon my past both personal and professional and my values and beliefs. I concluded that what I wanted to achieve was to empower others. I believe that life is a rollercoaster, a journey with unexpected ups and downs but sometimes we require a little support on how we navigate these downs or guidance on changes. I believe that sometimes life gets a bit hectic, and often in life we are on autopilot and sometimes neglect ourselves, we don’t give our self-time to check-in and consider how we feel but more importantly why. This is why I was drawn to explore Counselling and after completing my Level 2 I was hooked and knew it was the right path for me and I haven’t looked back.

Coming from a cultural background I grew up unable to express myself and talk about things that affect me. I had a extremely traumatic life changing event that destroyed my way of life, how i view people and my mind in total. Fortunately for me I stumbled on Melanie's practice and it was the best decision I've made.
